Wanting to lead it back to soil, I ran in, grabbed a cup of water, and poured it gently along the concrete in a path leading back to the grass. It made it home. For those few minutes, I got to enjoy friendship with a worm.

It’s okay to touch them, they’re always your friend they won’t hurt you.
Oh, no, it was just an earthworm, I know. I have no coordination and was afraid of pinching it to death when it kept ignoring my hand.
